Wayne Rooney has returned to where it all began and judging by the smile on his face, he’s delighted.
The striker put pen to paper on a two-year deal at Goodison Park, telling the world that he was ‘ecstatic’ to be back on Merseyside.
It’s almost as if he has been dreaming of an emotional return.
He even admitted that he’s been wearing Everton pyjamas at home for the past 13 years.
The player, capped 119 times for England, joked: “To be honest, I’ve kept it quiet for the past 13 years but I’ve actually been wearing Everton pyjamas at home with my kids.
“I had to keep that a bit quiet.”
Rooney became the youngest goalscorer in Premier League history at the age of 16 when he scored the winner in a 2-1 victory over Arsenal.
He has since had a glittering career with Manchester United , including winning the Premier League five times and the Champions League in 2008.
