Miami Twp. has opted to change the company it contracts with for waste collection.
Township trustees voted Tuesday night to award a three-year contract to Rumpke of Ohio, Inc. That company submitted the “lowest and best” bid over Waste Management Inc., the township’s current provider whose contract expires Dec. 31.

Republic Services also submitted a proposal, but it was incomplete and removed from consideration, township records show.
Rumpke will provide the township’s estimated 7,500 homes with collection of trash, recycling and yard waste, records show.

The township signed on with Waste Management at the end of 2014, when a three-year deal with Republic expired. The resolution approved by trustees calls for the Rumpke deal to run through 2020, with two more options years.
