Game notes: The Tigers go for a second straight series win today, after eking out a dramatic 4-3 victory last night. Tigers send Jordan Zimmermann to the mound in the series finale in the Bronx, and the Yankees counter with Masahiro Tanaka. The Yankees’ righty has struggled this season but posted a 3.82 ERA in five July starts. He set a career high with 14 strikeouts against Tampa Bay on Friday night, allowing just two hits and one run over eight innings. He has allowed an MLB-high 27 homers. … Zimmermann has been worse than Tanaka, though he has two quality starts in his past three outings.
