Father and son drown in Donegal fishing tragedy

Two men have died in a fishing tragedy off the coast of Donegal.

Although the men have not been named, it is understood that they are a father and son from Poland who were living the Irish midlands and visiting Donegal for the weekend.

The men went fishing off Teelin Pier on Saturday in a five metre long Rigid Inflatable Boat, a source told the Belfast Telegraph.

Noticing that they had not returned on Saturday night, concerned locals raised the alarm.

A local farmer found one of the bodies washed up on an isolated beach on Sunday morning. He contacted the gardai (Irish police) who, in turn, alerted the Coast Guard.

The Sligo rescue helicopter located the body of the second man in the sea off Malinbeg, Glencolmcille. A volunteer crew from Bundoran RNLI recovered the remains and brought them to shore at Teelin Pier.
