Court round-up: Man, 42, denies assaulting dad


A Coltness man will stand trial after being accused of acting in an aggressive manner.

Kevin O’Neill, of Maxton Crescent, pleaded not guilty to shouting, swearing, gesticulating and acting aggressively while holding a garden fork.

The 43-year-old also denied an offensive weapon in his possession, a garden fork, in his possession.

He will be tried at Hamilton Sheriff Court on November 30.

A Wishaw man has been accused of assaulting his dad during an incident in the town’s Main Street.

William Mitchell, 42, has denied slapping his father on the face causing his glasses to fall from his head and kick him on the body on August 21.

Mitchell, of Thomson Avenue, also pleaded not guilty to shouting, swearing, uttering threats of violence and behaving in an aggressive manner during the same incident.

The third charge Mitchell faces is knocking a mobile phone from the hands of his dad causing it to fall to get damaged.

Mitchell is due to stand trial at Hamilton Sheriff Court on November 29.

A Wishaw man has walked free from court despite admitting an assault against a woman.

Peter Ruzinsky appeared at Hamilton Sheriff Court last week having already admitted assaulting Stepanka Petricakovs at a flat in Birkshaw Brae, Gowkthrapple, on November 26 last year.

During the course of the incident, 49-year-old Ruzinsky pushed his victim on the head.

In court last week, Ruzinsky, of Heathfield, was admonished and he was free to leave the dock.

A man has denied throwing a brick through his ex-girlfriend’s window at her house in Wishaw.

John Broadfoot, 31, pleaded not guilty to attending Louise Sommerville’s house on Gala Crescent on August 17 uninvited. He is accused of throwing a brick at a window whilst she was within the premises and causing damage.

Broadfoot, of Chapel Street, Cleland. is due to stand trial on October 27.

A Craigneuk man is accused of threatening his partner.

Wojeiech Fabin, of Glencairn Avenue, pleaded not guilty to shouting, swearing, uttering threats of violence towards Amanda Dzys at Merryton Tower, Motherwell on August 12. He also denies having Amphetamines in his possession. He will stand trial on October 26.
