Cleveland Councilman Jeff Johnson finishes third in fundraising among mayoral candidates

CLEVELAND, Ohio – City Councilman Jeff Johnson raised $55,500 for his mayoral campaign during the first six months of the year, according to his late-filed campaign finance report.

Johnson, who missed Monday’s filing deadline due to what he described as a mix up, turned in his report Tuesday morning to the Cuyahoga County Board of Elections.

The board has yet to state whether Johnson will be penalized for missing the deadline.

Incumbent Frank Jackson and four challengers filed on Monday. Jackson far outpaced the field, raising $559,367 in the first six months of the year. The next best showings were by City Councilman Zack Reed and former nonprofit executive Robert Kilo, who each reported raising $57,350.
